Here are some of the most frequently asked questions in regards to diving:

1/ Which is the best season for diving in French Polynesia?

Diving in French Polynesia goes on year round. It is just as warm on the surface as it is underwater.
You’ll find the same marine fauna of the Pacific during any of the four seasons.
From November through March, it is considered as the “rainy season”. The underwater visibility in some of the diving sites can diminish, but the marine life is still intense.
From June through October, we call the “windy season”. Again, the aquatic population remains as busy as always. It is during this period that some whales come by and say “hello”!

2/ What is the water temperature?

Depending on the season, the temperature varies between 25° C (June through August) and 30° C (February and March).

3/Should I bring my diving equipment?

You can use the following equipment free of charge: mask, fins, regulator, wetsuit (long or short), BCD. We suggest that you bring your own MFS, if you have them, to go snorkeling at your convenience.

On inter island flights, the maximum allowable baggage weight is 20KG. The Airline does allow an extra 5KG when you show them your diving certificate.

We also offer the possibility of leaving your equipment at the center, so that you do not have to carry it around with you.

4/ What kind of dives do you perform: Nitrox or Rebreather?

As of right now, we are not equipped with Nitrox. One of our instructors Rebreather dives on demand. To do so, contact us directly by mail.

5/ Do I need to be certificated to dive in French Polynesia?

Due to the exceptional diving sites, whether you are certificated or a beginner, you’ll enjoy the same beautiful coral scenery and turquoise waters of the Pacific!
If you have not dived in a while, we offer “refresher” course, as well as a familiarization dive.

6/Can I get a dive certification with either Nemo World or Bora Diving Center?

Yes, both clubs offer the possibility of obtaining the ANMP, CEDIP or PADI certification.

PADI: If you wish to obtain the “Open Water” certification (American school), you must first pass your “Swimming Pool” classes first (Referral), so that your last four dives can be done in a natural environment.

For the level 1 ANMP, CEDIP (French school): All that is needed is an introductory dive(if you have never dove before), and then four technical dives.

7/As a certified diver, what certificate(s) should I bring?

To dive with either of our centers, you’ll need to bring your “Certification Card” and your logbook.

For those of you who are in the process of obtaining your certification, you’ll need to bring the necessary proof of your previous experience.

We also suggest that you bring a diving medical certificate.

8/At what age can children start diving?

We accept children from the age of eight years old for an introductory dive. As a parent or legal guardian, you’ll have to sign a certificate of consent.

9/What are the diving regulations in French Polynesia?

The maximum allowed depth for divers is as follows:
- 29 meters for level 1 ANMP/CEDIP, Open Water and Advanced Open Water divers
- 49 meters for level 2 ANMP/CEDIP and Rescue divers.
- 60 meters for those who hold higher certificates
- 6 meters for introductory dives.

Our certification dives take place at a maximum depth of 29 meters.

10/How much time must I wait before boarding an Airplane after a diving session?

Whether it is for an inter- island or international flight, a minimum wait period has to be respected. They are as follows:
For an Inter-Island flight, a minimum of 12 hours.
For International flights, a minimum of 24 hours.
